Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is this retreat right for me if I am not an experienced writer?
Yes. This retreat is not about skill, productivity, or output. It is about attention, presence, and listening. Many participants come with little or no formal writing background. What matters is a willingness to be with yourself on the page, in whatever way that takes.
2. Is this a writing workshop or a therapeutic retreat?
This is neither a traditional writing workshop nor a therapeutic programme. The retreat offers reflective writing practices and shared quiet time, not instruction, critique, or clinical support. While reflective writing can be meaningful and illuminating, this retreat is not psychotherapy and does not replace professional mental health care.
3. Will I be expected to share my writing?
No. Sharing is always optional. You are welcome to keep all of your writing private. If opportunities for sharing are offered, they are invitations, not expectations.
4. How much silence is involved?
There are periods of shared quiet and optional silence woven into the rhythm of the retreat. Silence is held gently, not rigidly. You are not required to remain silent at all times, but the overall atmosphere supports stillness and reduced noise.
5. What does a typical day look like?
Days follow a simple rhythm rather than a fixed schedule. There is time for quiet writing, rest, walking, meals, and being alone. Optional group sessions offer gentle structure, but there is no pressure to be constantly engaged.
6. How many people will be attending?
The retreat is intentionally small. This allows for spaciousness, intimacy, and a sense of being held rather than managed. Exact numbers are shared once a gathering is confirmed.
7. Is this retreat suitable if I am going through a difficult time?
Many people are drawn to this retreat during periods of transition or questioning. That said, participants are expected to be able to care for themselves emotionally and psychologically during the retreat. If you are experiencing acute distress or require ongoing support, it may be important to seek professional care alongside or instead of attending.
8. What is included in the cost of the retreat?
The retreat fee includes accommodation, daily meals, and the retreat programme as described on the website. Travel to and from the retreat location, travel insurance, and personal expenses are not included.
9. Where is the retreat held?
The retreat takes place in Grenada, in the Caribbean, in a quiet setting selected for privacy, comfort, and ease. Specific location details are shared after an expression of interest and once a gathering is confirmed.
10. How do I know if I am ready to attend?
There is no single way to be ready. If something in the retreat resonates and you feel drawn to slow down, listen, and spend time with yourself in a held environment, that may be enough. The expression of interest process allows space for reflection before any commitment is made.
